ABOUT ME

 MY CHILDHOOD

I was born in Prague in 1962. Both of my parents were artists so life was fun. We lived in the centre of Prague, at the very back of the Kaunitz Palace at Panska 7.

I remember, as a toddler, my dad pushing a twin pram full of his pictures to be exhibited in the open air either next to the National Theatre or on the Charles bridge in 1964-69. My older sister and I were trotting beside the pram.

My parents were very alternative and despite the communist persecution my mum managed to found a UNESCO recognised "International association of independent artists".

MY PROFESSIONAL CAREER

I love learning new things. Initially, I studied Education and Psychology at the Faculty of Arts at Charles University in Prague (M.A. and PhD). A decade later I did an M.A. in English and worked in business as a market research consultant.

Since the mid 90's I worked as a head of  a human rights charity and in the late 90's I moved back to University to work on my PhD in Public Policy. I was a visiting fellow at  University of Cambridge 1997/98 and University of Oxford 2002 and 2004. During my second stay in Oxford I met the man of my dreams  and eventually moved to Oxford.

In 2016 I completed a foundation course in Transactional Analysis and in 2017 I started training in Counselling Skills.

BECOMING AN ARTIST

I did some performing art before I got fully immersed in fine art. I remember when I was a child I was cast in a minor TV role. In my early 20s I played the main supporting character  in  Fero Fenic movie Dzusovy Roman.

Later I joined the Oxford Theatre Guild and was cast as Nadezda Krupskaja in Tom Stoppard's Travesties, etc.

In  2013 I became depressed and two years later I  started to heal through meditation and art therapy. I was diagnosed bipolar and only in 2017 I realised that my mood is quite well reflected in the style of my art work. I prefer changing projects but when I get immersed,  I can be very tenacious and prolific.

At present I equally enjoy painting and sculpting my pots. I may return to silversmithing when the appropriate mood comes back.

Or be useful to others in a helping role, such as a healer or a coach
